Updated when things move, not on a schedule.

Where Holt
goes next.

What is about to land, what comes after it, and what is still being weighed. There are no dates here. A date you can't keep is worse than none, so read the order and nothing more into it.

NowIn the next update

Built, and on its way to your phone.

These are finished and waiting on the next release. The two biggest are about reading your body and your training together: a readiness score that knows how hard you've been working, and a suggestion on every lift.

Coach

Readiness that counts your training.

Sleep, Body Battery, HRV and resting heart rate were already in the score. Now it also weighs how hard you've trained, how you slept over the last few nights and your recent stress. If your body looks like it's fighting something off, the score holds back.

82
  • Last night's sleep
  • Body Battery
  • HRV
  • Resting heart rate
  • Training load
  • The last few nights
  • Recent stress

Example figure. The outlined factors are new.

Strength

Last time, and what to try next.

Every exercise in a routine and in a live workout shows what you lifted last time and a suggestion for this time, with the reason. It appears once there is history for that exercise.

Incline dumbbell press

Last time
24 kg x 8 reps
Try this
24 kg x 9 reps

Same weight, aim for 9 reps on every set.

Example, in the app's own words.

Strength

Reps in reserve, set by set.

Log how many reps you had left on each set. A finished session shows your sets with the peak heart rate your watch recorded around each one, and a workout you also recorded on the watch opens as one activity, not two.

160 kg x 8RIR 3142
260 kg x 8RIR 2151
360 kg x 7RIR 1158

Example. Heart rate in beats a minute.

Vitals

Your weight, kept.

An optional weight field in the morning check-in, and a history with a chart and every weigh-in. A Garmin scale's readings sit beside your own, so a morning with two weigh-ins shows two.

Example. Weight is shown, not scored.

Settings

More than one goal.

Train for an event and build strength at the same time. Pick as many goals as you have, and change them whenever you like.

  • Event
  • Build strength
  • Lose weight
  • Build endurance

Example.

Also in this update

Zones by reserve
Heart rate zones can be based on % of heart rate reserve, which uses your resting heart rate as well as your max. The editor can suggest a resting rate from your watch.
Exact intervals
An interval's distance can be typed as an exact value. Tap the distance to enter it.
Signing out
Signing out now stops that account's notifications on your phone, where before an old account's activities and briefing could keep arriving.
Weekly goal
The week now follows your own timezone, so a session early on Monday morning counts toward the right week.
NextIn this order

Queued, and the work is understood.

Not started, but not a guess either. Each one says what it changes for you and what has to happen first.

  1. Apply a suggestion in one tap.

The next update shows what to try on each lift. After it comes a button that writes that weight and rep target into the routine, and into the workout on your watch, so the number you read is the number you lift.

    What it changes
No retyping a load between sessions. Accept the suggestion, or keep your own.
    What it needs
The routine and the watch workout updated together, so the app and the watch never disagree about the plan.
  2. Holt in more languages.

Everything you read in Holt is English today. A language ships only once the whole app can be read in it, so that comes first.

    What it needs
The workout editor and the recording screen still have English written into them. That is what is left.
ExploringNot promised

Ideas being weighed.

None of these is a commitment. Each is a question we haven't answered yet, written down in the open.

Apple Health and Health Connect.

The full daily call needs a Garmin today. Reading sleep and heart rate from the phone's own health store could open it to other watches. The open question is whether those numbers are steady enough to base a day on.

A plan to an event.

Give Holt the date of a race and it already eases off before it. Whether it should also lay out the weeks leading up to it is still open.

Weight in the call.

Your weight is shown and charted, and the coach leaves it out on purpose. A slow trend might belong in its read. A single morning never should.

What is already out there.

The newest month first. Everything here is in the app on your phone now.

Coach, widgets and a screen for every sport
A coach that works without a watch
One session a day from how your sessions felt and a short morning check-in. With a Garmin it reads more of the watch, and can send the day's session to it.
Widgets
Home and lock screen widgets on iPhone, and home screen widgets on Android, so you can read the number before you unlock.
Weekly goal and streak
A card on Home that follows your goal for the week and how long you've kept it up.
A screen for each kind of activity
Strength sessions show their sets, runs show running dynamics, swims show lengths, and activities with no route skip the map.
Notifications, one by one
A record, a goal reached, a finished night. Each one switches off on its own.
Your colours
Five backgrounds, eight accents, light or dark.
Pick any night
Sleep detail loads the stages and the blood oxygen chart for the night you choose.
Range and day-by-day on every metric
Choose how far back to look, and step back one day at a time.

Where it started
Record
Runs, walks, rides and hikes with GPS: a route map, distance, pace, splits and elevation.
Garmin, when you have one
Device activities sync in by themselves, with sleep, resting heart rate, stress, Body Battery, HRV and VO2 max.
Strength routines
Supersets and rest timers, then a guided session one set at a time.
Compare and fitness tests
Two activities side by side, and the Cooper and Rockport tests, timed and scored in the app.
